Key Project Involvement

Adubango Brand is a Civil/Structural Engineer with 9 years of experience in the design, project management, monitoring, coordination and supervision of infrastructure (buildings and road works). He worked with National Housing &Construction Company Ltd as a Project Engineer on the Bugolobi Spring Valley Apartments (104 apartments). He was responsible for the daily planning of works, scheduling and requisition of materials, daily supervision and certification and payment of works, co0rdination of works and site management and administration.

He also managed the construction of a Warehouse facility (3,456m2 capacity) on Plot 1-3, 7th Street Industrial Area, Kampala and at the same time construction supervision of a new first floor slab within the already existing head office building, as a Project Engineer. He was responsible for planning of works, scheduling and requisition of materials, supervision, certification and payment of works for these projects

Brand worked with MBW Consulting Ltd right from his engineering training period in 2002 upto July 2008. He acquired experience in Architectural and Civil/Structural design, draughtsmanship and construction supervision.

He was a resident inspector in the districts of Bugiri and Tororo under the EU funded district roads re-gravelling project where he was involved in design of district engineers’ offices, culverts/bridges and daily supervision works. He was involved in design and detailing of the proposed rehabilitation of Buhinga regional referral hospital in Fort Portal (architectural and structural), reconstruction of Kabale directorate of district health services office block, supervision of the rehabilitation of a four storey Tororo District Administration block, supervision of the Hoffman kiln at Uganda clays Kajjansi.

He also participated in the design and supervision of a five storey office block in Kamwokya; design of Fort Portal municipal council chambers and a six storey library block for Kings College Buddo. He was involved in design and draughting of the entrance canopy, car port and car park of Bushenyi District Local Government Administration block. He participated in the supervision of Judicial courts for Kasese District Courts as a Clerk of Works. He took part in the field study and design of maintenance procedure for public and institutional buildings in Rakai district where he was responsible for the counties of Kooki and Kabula.

Brand worked on the structural assessment, design and construction supervision of JMM Bungalow (3-storey residential building) in Kakira Sugar Works. He was also involved in a reconnaissance survey of about 300km gravel roads in Luwero, Mityana, Sembabule and Ibanda; drafting, daily supervision and design of drainage/culvert work on Fortportal Hima road.

  1. Aug 2013 to Mar 2014 – Zoriah Holdings Ltd: Construction supervision of 3-storey administration block of St. Joseph’s Girls Secondary school in Nsambya, Kampala. Project cost: Approx. UgX 820million. Project duration: 5 months.
  2. April 2013 – Beuel Investments Ltd: Structural design of a 3-storey institutional building in Juba, South Sudan.
  3. March 2013 – Beuel Investments Ltd: Structural design review of a 3-storey institutional building of St. Joseph Secondary School in Nsambya, Kampala.
  4. Feb – March 2013 – Beuel Investments Ltd: Remodelling and rehabilitation of residential building on Plot 279, Musigire road in Ntinda, Kampala. Project cost: UgX 40 million.
  5. May 2012 to July 2012 – Beuel Investments Ltd: Architectural and structural design of proposed 3- storey residential apartments on Plot 1034, Block 195, Kyaggwe and also design of proposed 3-storey commercial building to be built in Paidha Town Council, Zombo district.
  6. May 2010 to May 2012 – National Housing and Construction Co. Ltd. Project design, management and supervision of construction of a housing estate (104 housing units or flats) in Bugolobi, Kampala. Project Engineer. Project cost: Approx 20 billion Ug shillings. Planned project duration: 24 months. Handled supervision of construction works, scheduling and requisition of materials, labour, measurement, certification and payment of works, monitoring and evaluations of works.
  7. Jan 2009 to Jan 2010 – National Housing and Construction Co. Ltd. Project management and supervision of construction of a Warehouse facility on 7th Street Industrial Area, Kampala. Project Engineer. Project cost: Approx 1.66 billion shillings. Project duration: 12 months.
  8. Mar 2006 to Nov 2007 – MBW Consulting Engineers, Technical Support Unit (TSU), Resident Inspector. Was involved in the preparation of the cost estimates and daily supervision of district road re-gravelling project in the districts of Bugiri and Tororo.
  9. April 2005 to Jan 2006 – MBW Consulting Engineers and AAW Consulting Engineers of Egypt, Draughtsman/Drainage/Culvert Inspector Strengthening of Fortportal – Hima road. This involved the design and drafting, daily supervision of drainage/culverts.
  10. Dec 2004 – MBW Consulting Engineers and AAW Consulting Engineers of Egypt, Assistant Structural Engineer. Study and road reconnaissance survey of approx 300km of gravel road network for upgrading to bitumen class. This included structural and hydraulic study of the road structures.
  11. Sept – Nov 2004 – MBW Consulting Engineers, Study and design of maintenance procedure for public and institutional buildings in Rakai district, Assistant Measurements Engineer. Participated in the study and measurements of the public and institutional buildings in the two counties of Kooki and Kabula. Was involved in the production of dilapidation schedule, the remedial measures and cost estimates.
  12. May 2004 – June 2004 – MBW Consulting Engineers, the completion of Bushenyi District Administration block, Designer/Draughtsman. This involved design and drafting of the gate house, entrance canopy car port and civil works for the district headquarters.
  13. April 2004 – May 2004 – MBW Consulting Engineers, the construction of judicial courts for Kasese district courts, Clerk of Works. Participated in the daily supervision of the works. The works included finishing works; fixing of door shutters, plumbing works, painting and concreting of aprons.
  14. 2003 – Dec 2003 – MBW Consulting Engineers, the rehabilitation and remodelling of Buhinga regional referral hospital in Fort-portal and Kabale DDHS office block in Kabale, Pupil Engineer. He was also involved in the production of the Architectural and Structural drawings.
  15. Aug 2003 – Feb 2004 – MBW Consulting Engineers, part of the team involved in design and supervision of the Tororo District Administration block, Pupil Engineer. This is a three-storey building for the District Administration which had been abandoned because of its extent of dilapidation. The building, which formally had a flat roof, exhibited severe corrosion of steel in all its structural elements and had barely any concrete cover. The roof leaked, had grown up shrubs and algae in almost every crack. Rehabilitation work involved very careful professional assessment of causes of reinforced concrete corrosion and determination of residual strength of principal structural members, and design of methods for demolition of these members.
  16. Aug 2003 to Nov 2003 – MBW Consulting Engineers, Uganda Clays Kajjansi, Pupil Engineer. Construction of a Hoffman kiln to enhance production. MBW was structural civil consultants. He was involved in the routine supervision.
  17. Nov 2002 to July 2003 – MBW Consulting Engineers, Research into the structural stability of an existing column in a proposed swimming pool in Kakira, Trainee Engineer. A two-storeyed structure had a circular column that supported a circular room on top of it. A swimming pool was proposed to be constructed around the column. Carried out the research for the structural stability of the column.
  18. July 2002 to Sept 2002 – MBW Consulting Engineers, A 5-storeyed office block in Kamwokya, Trainee Engineer. The building is located on a restricted site. On the upper boundary a drainage system existed while on the lower boundary was a retaining wall. The original foundation design had to be changed after site visit to make it cantilever. The survey done by the surveyor indicated a bigger area (on which the structural design was based) than the actual area. The site has a gentle slope. I participated in the supervision. Kings College Buddo library. Production of drawings for 5-storeyed building. Fort Portal Municipal council chambers. Design and drafting of structural drawings for the 2-storeyed office building.
  19. July 2001 to Sept 2001 – WaterAid Uganda, supervision of the installation of hand dug wells, springs and Ferro-cement tanks, Trainee Engineer. These are sources of safe water for the rural population and it was carried out in Wakiso district in the parishes around the district headquarters in Wakiso.
